A kitesurfing cruise lets you sail away from the crowded kite beaches to explore secret spots that are only accessible by boat
Thanks to the skipper being also a passionate kitesurfer, to date we are the only kitesurfer friendly sailing monohull in the Cyclades that combines a real sailing experience with exploring kitesurfing destinations. On board Cinderella we can accommodate up to 4 kiters, so we are the ideal option for a small family or a few friends looking to go on a sailing trip together but also having the freedom to kite from the boat when the conditions are favorable.
What are the benefits of a kitesurfing cruise on board Cinderella
Intimacy and value-for-money
A kitesurfing cruise on board a monohull is a more intimate and budget friendly alternative for smaller parties compared to the larger catamarans that usually accommodate 8 to 10 kiters on board. In high season, a 6 days kitesurfing cruise on board Cinderella amounts to a little under 1700 euros per person (excl. transports, food and drinks).
Because you are renting the whole boat for yourselves, you also have more flexibility to discuss the itinerary and parallel activities with your skipper.
The freedom of kitesurfing from a boat
Besides exploring uncrowded spots, kitesurfing from a boat has many other advantages. You can safely drift launch the kites from the back of the boat, avoiding the risk of obstacles, sand and eventual injuries that may occur on dry land. When the conditions are right, you can follow the boat on long downwinders, carving and trying new tricks along the way without worrying about loosing ground.
It's also a real sailing cruise
Besides kitesurfing, you will appreciate the feeling of real sailing that you can experience on a monohull during the crossings between the islands, Istvan’s always keen on showing you the ropes and involving everyone in the sailing of the yacht, so get prepared to winch! You can also do many other parallel activities such as snorkeling, hiking or just relax and read a book. At Windfinders we like to introduce our guests to the more authentic side of Greece and those smaller charming islands where local communities live a peaceful life in a dimension of their own, far away from the mass-tourisme destinations.

Important information!
Your Kitesurf level
You need to be at least an independent to advanced kitesurfer, able to ride upwind and familiar with all the safety and emergency procedures of your sport. Your skipper will keep an eye on you and will always do his best to come and rescue you, however, the skipper and Windfinders cannot be held responsible for your safety while kitesurfing. Kitesurfing from the boat is at your own risk.
Consideration when Kitesurfing with friends
In case you are a mixed group of friends with non-kitesurfers in the group, bear in mind that it can be difficult to satisfy everyone’s wishes at the same time. It can be very unpleasant for non-kiters to be sitting and waiting on the boat in a windy spot while the others are having a blast on the water. We’ve had this situation in the past.
Wind conditions and best time of the year for a kitesurfing cruise in the Cyclades
The Cyclades have the reputation to be very windy in General! From June to September, the summer wind “Meltemi” blows from a northerly direction, usually between 15 and 25 knots. Some days and in certain locations the Meltemi can be accelerated and reach higher wind speeds of up to 40 knots, but rarely more. A heavier rider should be fine on most days on a 9 to 12 m2 quiver while a lighter rider might want to consider a 7 to 9 m2 quiver.
The time of year we like the most in the Cyclades is September, until around mid October. That’s when the water temperature is at its warmest and the sailing area is also starting to be less crowded with boats. The wind can be less constant during that period compared to July and August but there are still chances of finding some good days for kitesurfing.
Cinderella can accommodate up to 6 guests, so why limit kitesurfing cruises to 4 kiters?
Kitesurfing is a space consuming sport and we know that we can store up to 4 kitesurf golf bags on deck for your equipment without compromising the comfort. 4 is also a fair number to manage when it comes to rigging and unrigging equipment off the back of the boat. Remember we have only one hull and not 2 hulls like the catamarans do ; )
